A self-professed country music addict with an obsession for high heel shoes, she brings with her a gift for story telling and inspiring passion and purpose in others.

Amy delivers engaging workshops and keynotes aimed to connect, empower and inspire all those who attend. She believes that nurses have the power to change the world and is willing to bet, after a little time spent with her, you will too.

Amy is a Masters prepared Registered Nurse, graduate of the Frontier Nursing University and University of Calgary BN alum. A lifelong learner, she has completed the Leading Series Certification and Leadership Development Certification programs through the University of Alberta’s Executive Education, as well as Prosci’s Change Management Certification. She is enthusiastic about helping others develop their own leadership potential and volunteers her time as a Board Director for the Famou5 Foundation in Calgary.

Born into a family of nurses, Amy’s career path was clear from the start. At 4 years old, she requested her birthday cake be a “nurse cake”. She and her sister spent many hours of their childhood playing “delivery room nurse.” Upon graduation from her nursing degree, Amy pursued a career as a Labour and Delivery Nurse and eventually a Masters in Nursing, specializing in nurse-midwifery.

Although nursing has always been the clear career path for Amy, she was also passionate about leadership and was heavily involved in 4-H and other leadership opportunities. By creating the International Network of Nurse Leaders, she was able to marry her passions into one purpose, one goal of helping nurses change the world.

“We need to stop believing we are ‘just’ a nurse; nurses hold great power. Our voices deserve to be heard. We can, and must, rise together with one voice and one mission of creating change. If we can do that, we will be unstoppable.”
